Obituary for Charles J. Wezowicz

Charles J. Wezowicz, 88, lifelong resident of Windsor Locks passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015. Charlie was born March 12, 1926, the son of the late Stanley and Michalina (Chmura) Wezowicz. Charlie proudly served in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged on February 6, 1947. He enlisted with the CT Army National Guard and retired from the Unit 712 Ordinance at Bradley Field in the Army Depot. Charlie was a 69 year member of the Windsor Locks Volunteer Fire Department and once served as the Deputy Chief. He enjoyed carpentry work and enjoyed working alongside his brother, Matt. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He is survived by two brothers, Matthew Wezowicz and his wife, Gladys and Joseph Wezowicz; a sister, Bertha Wolnick all of Windsor Locks and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by four brothers, Robert, Edward, Raymond and Paul. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Sunday, February 1, 2015, from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral procession will gather on Monday, February 2, 2015, at 9 am at the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 am at St. Mary Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Windsor Locks Volunteer Fire Department, 4 Volunteer Dr., Windsor Locks or to St. Mary Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks.
