Obituary for Phyllis Marie Hocking

Phyllis Marie  Hocking
Phyllis Marie Hocking, 88, of Somers, beloved wife of 68 years to Lenord A. Hocking, Jr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2016, at Johnson Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 10, 1928, in Malone, NY daughter of the late Roy and Ruth Beyerl. Phyllis has been a resident of Somers for over fifty years. She was a EMT for over 20 years for the Somers Fire Department Ambulance Division. She was a faithful member of the Somers Congregational Church for 48 years. Phyllis started out her working career as a nurses aid and then later become a LPN always devoted to her patients. In addition to her husband she is survived by five children, Jean Collins and her husband Harry of Enfield, William Hocking and his wife Karen of Somers, Patricia Hocking of Somers, Sandra Keery and her husband Malcolm of Somers, and Deborah Edwards and her husband Robert of Somers; 48 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a sister Beverly Noreault and her husband Floyd of Malone, NY. Phyllis was predeceased by an infant daughter Susan Hocking and two bothers Jack and Stuart Beyerl. There will be no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations in Phyllis's memory may be made to the Somers Fire Department, 400 Main Street, Somers, CT 06071.
