Obituary for Ruth M. Courchaine (Channell)

Ruth M. Courchaine (Channell)
Ruth Marie (Channell) Courchaine, wife and best friend of Richard Ovila Courchaine passed away at Suffield House after a long illness. Ruth was born on July, 2, 1929 in Haverhill, MA., the daughter of the late Frank J. and Marie (Lemerise) Channell. She was a homemaker and also retired after 30+ years from Combustion Engineering (later called Alstom) as Chief Teletype Operator. She was Captain of the Haverhill High School cheerleading squad and enjoyed roller skating where she met her future husband. Ruth was a lifelong Red Sox fan and knew all the players! She was also a UCONN Women's Huskies fan following "her girls" in every championship season. She loved going to the beach, was an avid reader and enjoyed her "English" shows on TV. Perhaps her most notable hobby was knitting, making many beautiful sweaters, hats and mittens for her family. Besides her husband who predeceased her in 2011, she leaves her children Diane Cole and her husband Gary of Venice, FL; Stephen Courchaine and his wife Cheryl of Somers, CT; Donna Negrotti and her husband John of Plaistow, NH. She leaves her grandchildren, Jennifer Classon and husband Steven; Richard J. and his wife Michelle Courchaine; Allison Yando and her husband Jared; Lauren Cole; Alicia Negrotti and Christopher Negrotti; and great-grandchildren, Joshua and Matthew Classon; Jackson and Olivia Courchaine; Gianna Lessard-Negrotti and Elliott Yando; her brother Lewis Channell of Hampstead, NH. Relatives and friends may gather on Friday morning, April 29 at 9 a.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, for a procession to St. Martha Church in Enfield where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Patrick King Street Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 28, from 5 p.m.to 7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
