Elda Renn Clark Bertrand passed away May 28, 2016, at age 90. Elda was born December 2, 1925, in Luzerne, PA, the daughter of Hunter James Clark and Elda Louise Renn Clark. After graduating from Plymouth High School in Plymouth, PA, Elda attended Syracuse University, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. Later, she earned a master’s degree from the University of Hartford, and continued studying at American International College, to earn an advanced graduate degree. Elda taught elementary education in Enfield for 29 years. After she retired in 1992, she continued helping people by caring for her grandchildren and by volunteering as an Ambassador for 22 years at the information booth at Bradley International Airport, and for 10 years at the Flu Clinic, the Johnson Memorial Hospital Gift Shop, and the Enfield Senior Center. Elda also volunteered at Rotary Garden, Enfield Central Library, Meals on Wheels, and the After School Program.
In addition, she sang with the Enfield Community Choir for 25 years and with the Gold Tones at the Enfield Senior Center. Elda is survived by her three children: Bill McIntyre of Kent, OH, Jerilyn McIntyre Douglass of Springfield, MA, and Susan Bertrand of East Longmeadow, MA; as well as her five grandchildren: Jimmy McIntyre, married to Dana McIntyre and residing in Weybridge, England, Stacey McIntyre Snyder, married to Derek Snyder and residing in Fort Mill, SC, Matthew McIntyre of Kent, OH, and Ethan and Sydney Grant of East Longmeadow, MA; and also her five great grandchildren: Illiana and Alexander McIntyre of Weybridge, England, and Kathryn, Liza and Emily Snyder of Fort Mill, SC.

Funeral services in celebration of Elda's life will be held on Wednesday, June 1 at 11 a.m. at Leete Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Elda’s wish is that donations be made to the Enfield Central Library, 104 Middle Road, Enfield, CT 06082, or to the Dakin Animal Shelter, 171 Union Street, Springfield, MA 01105.
