Obituary for Thomas R. Shepard

Thomas R. Shepard, 73, of Windsor Locks, beloved husband of Candice (Caldon) Shepard, crossed over from this world to the Lord’ hands on Sunday July 10, 2016. Born in Hartford Hospital, originally from Suffield CT, Tom was the son of the late Howard and Alice (Parmelee) Shepard. He was a longtime resident of the Windsor Locks community and was an Army veteran, stationed in Korea. After 29 years he retired from Sweet Life (Springfield Sugar) as an auto mechanic and in his free time, Tom enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Besides his wife Candice, he is survived by his five children, Eileen Venditti and her husband Mark of Windsor Locks, Robert Shepard and his wife Heather of Nevada, Penny Shepard of Windsor Locks, Thomas Shepard and his wife Katie of Bristol, Brett Shepard Cormier of Windsor Locks; his brother, Howard Shepard of Windsor; sister, Beatrice Clark and her husband Richard of Windsor Locks; eight grandchildren, Autumn, Andrew, Katie, Lindsey, Rebecca, Amanda, Emma, and Ashley; and many nieces and nephews. Tom's family will receive relatives and friends, Friday July 15, 2016 from 5-6 p.m., with a remembrance service immediately following from 6-7 p.m. at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery in Windsor Locks. Because Tom spent years helping out on Poppy Drives with his wife Candice, donations in Tom's memory may be made to the VFW Auxiliary Post 6123, 36 Fairview St., Windsor Locks, CT, 06096.
