Obituary for Joseph C. "Joe" Hilinski

Joseph "Joe" C. Hilinski, 93, of Enfield, widower of Eleanor (Leonard) Hilinski, entered into eternal rest Thursday Aug. 25, 2016 at Kimberly Hall North, Windsor, CT after a long illness. Joe was born and raised in Scranton, PA, son of the late Walter and Lillian (Brogozski) Hilinski. He served as a radioman on Blimps in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Joe married Eleanor in Scranton, PA in 1946 and then moved to Torrington where he opened a TV store, County Electronics. He then sold the store in 1962 and moved to Enfield where he worked as a senior technician and later a foreman for Hamilton Standard division of U.T.C. until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Holy Cross Polish National Church and the John Maciolek Post #154 American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family after retiring. Joe is survived by his children, Kenneth Hilinski and his wife Lenora of Enfield and Katherine Howland of Woodbury, five grandchildren, Sara Hilinski and her husband Sebastian Bach, Michael Hilinski and his wife Daphna Bassok, Gerard Hilinski and his wife Marie Spong, Gregory Howland and his wife Jennifer and Timothy Howland, seven great grandchildren, Jude and Stellen Bach, Sam and Leo Hilinski, Russell Hilinski, and Ada and Wren Howland, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife Eleanor who died in 2013 he was predeceased by four brothers, Anthony, Chester, Benjamin and Edwin. Family and friends will gather Monday, August 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road for a funeral procession to Holy Cross Polish National Church for a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m., Burial will follow with military honors in the parish cemetery. Joe's family will receive relatives and friends at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels on Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Joe's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association CT Chapter 200 Executive Blvd., Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
