Obituary for William F. Smith

William F. Smith, 44, of Enfield, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Johnson Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Bangkok, Thailand on November 17, 1971, the son of Chalam (Thongprom) Smith of Enfield and the late Paul F. Smith, Jr. William was a resident of Enfield for over 40 years where he was a 1989 graduate of Enrico Fermi High School. He then attended Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI where he received several degrees (A.O.S. in Hotel and Restaurant Management, B.S. in Hospitality Management, M.A.T. in Secondary Education). He was the Director of Education at Lincoln Culinary Institute and had previously worked at The Sheraton Hotel in Springfield, the Four Seasons and Fairmont Copley Hotels in Boston, and CityFarm Catering in Brookline, MA. In 2007, William received the Manager of the Year award by the Falcon Hotel Corporation. He also had a passion for cooking and loved to entertain. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Robert Smith and his wife Tina of South Hadley, MA; two sisters, Charlotte Zenzick and her husband CJ, and Chalam Hosig and her husband Nick, all of Enfield; two half-sisters, Paula Dodson and her family of Oregon, and Jennifer Smith and her family of California, nieces and nephews, Ethan, Lilah, and Conor Smith; Brandon, Olivia, and Gracie Hosig; Trevor and Logan Alongi, and a beloved pup, Wilma Zenzick; aunts, Rabiab Thongprom of Enfield, Thongsuk Thongprom of Enfield, Chongjit Wilke and her husband Dan of Black River Falls, WI, Chintana Lee and her husband Sam of Manchester, CT, Mariette Johnson and her husband Ralph of Enfield, Julie Aikey of Vermont, an uncle, Thomas Perron of Plainville, CT, many cousins (Liz, Teri, Arthur, Thomas, Yvonne, Tina, Wendy, Louann, Heather, Steven, and Jason) and their families, and many dear friends. Relatives and friends may join the family for visiting hours on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
