Margaret H. "Peg"  Mona (Reiser)
Margaret Frances (Reiser) Mona passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Paul Nicholas Mona. Peg was born in Hartford, CT May 23, 1923 and graduated from Hartford High School, Class of 1941. She and Paul lived in Hartford before moving to Windsor Locks, CT were they raised their three children. Peg was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, a Cub scout den mother, an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windsor Locks, where she was involved in the Rosary society and the women’s club. Peg worked for over twenty years as a secretary at North Street Elementary School. She and Paul retired to Tarpon Shores, in Tarpon Springs, Florida and became active in their new community, making Tarpon Springs home. Peg and Paul belonged to the Tarpon Shores Social Club, the Tarpon Springs Moose Lodge, and Peg joined the Tarpon Springs Women’s club, card groups and the women’s lunch and theater group. She and Paul were members of St. Ignatius of Antioch Catholic Church, Tarpon Springs. Family, friends and her faith were important to Peg and evident to anyone who knew her. She welcomed everyone she encountered and will be remembered as someone who embraced life and all its challenges. Peg is survived by her two sons, Michael P.N. Mona, and his wife, Nelly of Palm Harbor, FL, Mark S. Mona and his wife, Linda of Windsor Locks and her daughter, Mary Lou Gillis, of Fair Oaks, CA, 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. We will truly miss her but know that she is happy and at peace. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks, on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Windsor Locks.
