Obituary for Ruth Ann O'Kane

Ruth Ann O'Kane, 51, of Enfield, CT passed away after a brief illness on Monday, June 19, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital. Ruth was born April 23, 1966, in East Meadow, NY the daughter of the late Hugh and Lucille (Crowley) O'Kane. Ruth was employed for several years with United Airlines and most recently employed with Delta Airlines at Bradley International Airport as a Supply Attendant. Ruth was active and never sat still. She was the original DIY'er she loved working on projects in her home and tending to her garden. Ruth will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend who gave tirelessly of herself to help others without every asking for anything in return. She is survived by five children, Donna O'Kane of Enfield, Christine O'Kane and her fiancé, Benjamin Lafayette of Broad Brook, Mathew Perez of Enfield, Mercedes Vazquez and her fiancé Matthew of Georgia and Angelina Vazquez of Florida; two sisters, Laura Cerda of Gainesville, FL and Doreen O'Kane of Southbridge, MA; her three beloved grandchildren, Antonio Cruz, Jr., Keagan Lafayette, Andres C. Vazquez and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by a brother, Hugh O'Kane, II and two sisters, Ceal Bales and Brenda O'Kane. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Sunday, June 25, 2017, from 2 pm to 4 pm at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A funeral service for Ruth will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017, at 10 am at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels. Entombment will follow in Mt St. Benedict Cemetery.
