Obituary for Conrad C. "Connie" Bursztyn

Conrad C. "Connie" Bursztyn
Conrad “Connie” Bursztyn, 88, of Windsor Locks, CT, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017. He was born in Buffalo, NY on June 23, 1929, the son of the late Marie (Soltys) and Frank Bursztyn. Connie served in the U.S. Navy for nearly four years during the early 1950’s. It was during this time that he met his beautiful wife-to-be. Thankful for his gift of music, he was a one-man band, excelling at piano, accordion, electronic keyboards, trombone, violin, and the occasional harmonica. Connie was a master of “playing by ear”, having memorized hundreds of tunes, and his music brought happiness to the young and old alike who were fortunate to hear him play. During the 1960’s and 1970’s he was a member of the “Melody Knights” band which performed at many north and central Connecticut venues. Later he joined “The Lockspeople” entertainment group which provided musical shows in convalescent and nursing homes. He also supplemented this activity with a soloing musical show schedule as well. His next gig is scheduled for heaven soon, and he will rock the house once again. Connie was employed as a toxicologist by the Connecticut State Health Department Laboratory. He retired after 32 years and came home to spend more time with Helen, and to care for his beautiful Windsor Locks home, lawn and landscape. Connie is recently predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Helen (Ciesla) Bursztyn. He leaves behind his three sons, Mike and his wife, Kathy of Fort Myers, FL; Bill of Enfield; and Rich of Windsor Locks. He also leaves 8 grandchildren, Chad, Todd and Matt of Florida; Nathan and Jessica of Enfield, and Eric, Emily and Alex of Windsor Locks. Last, but not least his faithful fuzz-ball companion, “Mouse” the cat. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family during visiting hours on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A Mass of Christian Burial for Connie will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at 10 am at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks. (Please meet at the church). Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Donations in Conrad’s memory may be made to the Disable American Veterans (DAV), P.O.
